Innovation activities can’t be successful with top-down or bottom-up only approach. Both approaches need its own mind set and responsibilities. To keep the balance between, gives much better results. By getting support from management without too much involvement, show respect and give value to the efforts of employees is the most precious support for successful innovation. You need some high energetic people and mentors to help your innovators in the company. To leave them alone will give feeling “worthless” or “unnecessary activities” they are dealing with.
Innovation activities are not executed only for showcase. Since they are out of your operating principles, it does not mean worthless. Distruptive innovation come from unexpected areas. Don’t loose your innovators because of wrong innovation approach.
